How To Wear Leopard Print: Part 2

On Friday, I talked about wearing leopard print shoes and demonstrated some easy ways to incorporate them into your existing wardrobe.

Let’s look at how you can make bigger statements with animal print.  Sticking with the same suggestions as before, that is wearing neutral or bold solids with your leopard print, you’ll find it just as easy to wear a leopard print clothing with pieces you already have.

Perusing Nordstrom.com, Zappos.com and JCrew.com, I found the following combinations:

Leopard print blouse + red skirt (JCrew) + tall black motorcycle boot

Leopard print dress + nude heels

Leopard print trench coat + emerald green dress + charcoal pumps (with a green heel!)

Trying out a new trend is a great way to inject some fun into your style and to expand your fashion comfort zone.  And it’s less daunting (and expensive) to find ways to blend the new look into your existing wardrobe.  Besides, head-to-toe trend is typically not a great look (remember the Missoni lady from Friday).

Another thing to remember is, if you’re not ready to try wardrobe pieces, you could always start with leopard print accessories and ease your way into it.

how about leopard print heels, black tights, black skirt and leopard top?

    • Hmmm…That’s a good question. Off the top of my head, yes, IF the shoes and top have the same leopard hues and the same scale. Otherwise, it might be too “busy”. Let me know if you try this combo (or tried it) and how it turned out!

I did it, but bottled it a bit and wore a low V neck black jumper over the top – so there was a little leopard print on show but not too much – must have gone down well as my date thought I looked pretty good 😀 x

  2. Hmm how about red Lep. print heels? my boyfriend ordered me a pair for this Christmas but idont have a clueeee on how to wear them…besides the obvious solid red or black. Please help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely, Ms. Hale

    • First, I’m jealous.

Second, what first comes to mind is neutrals – black, white, khaki. BUT, if you want a bolder look, you could also wear jewel tones, like royal blue, purple, gold.

I would stick with solids or very small (or very subtle) prints so the shoes would be the star, but wear what suits your own style.

Let me know what you decide!

      • Thank you so much that really helps a lot, have any tips on like what kind of look would be best with’em?? Im attaching a link to them so you have more of a visual:

If you have anyyyyy ideas it would def. help seeing im very into fashion just not so much dressing to the NINES =)

        • Yep, the pic helps a lot.

So, again, first thought is to go for neutrals. Like, opaque black tights, black pencil skirt and a tailored, white blouse. Statement necklace.

But, you could go for a rock chick vibe with a leather skirt or pants, Tshirt and blazer. Lots of silver jewelry.

          Or lady-like. A dress with a fitted bodice and A-line skirt…and fishnets.

          What do you think?

  3. Ooohh I reallly like! Thank you so much, you’ve def. helped this inspiring fashionista. I’ll for sure be following on the regular.

Thank you so much again for your help =)
